SNH Class – Challenging Our Own Thinking About the Nature of Disruption
June 20, 2018 @ 4:10 pm - 5:50 pm
Each year, the Scaling New Heights Conference offers a wide range of product training and practice development training. And…each year we introduce a highly relevant and high impact theme. At the 2018 Scaling New Heights Conference the theme is “Tame the Machines.” This year, we will design some of our breakout sessions and main stage presentations to address an imminent and unprecedented technology shift impacting accounting professionals. New and enhanced technologies like data automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the way professionals perform services and are creating a powerful opportunity for accountants to reduce manual processes by as much as 80%. Those who fully leverage the technologies will increase profits, position their firms to scale, and generate a competitive advantage within the accounting profession. Join us in Atlanta in June 2018 to “Tame the Machines!”
Ingrid Edstrom will be teaching a great breakout scession on Challenging Our Own Thinking About the Nature of Disruption.
For this final session of Scaling New Heights 2018, this is an amazing opportunity to discuss and apply the ideas you have been picking up. Some of these ideas may be new and even intimidating, and we want to make sure that you have the tools to move forward in applying them in your practice. Join several breakout instructors for an interactive, discussion-based brainstorming session focusing on the changes in our industry. Together we will challenge our assumptions about Disruption (Disruption = a radical Change in an industry, business strategy, etc. as the result of an advance in technology), ask the deep questions that lead to more questions, and create new learning opportunities based upon the experience of all participants. Supportive reflection with others can be a great way to shift our thought patterns, and we will work together to create a fertile environment for the growth of new ideas. This will be a supportive facilitated discussion where all ideas are welcome. After a brief introduction, participants will break into groups with the facilitators to discuss different questions, and participants may move from group to group. There will be time at the end for everyone to come back together, and the facilitators will report on the key breakthroughs of each group for the benefit of all. Seating will be limited, so please pre-register.
The key learning objectives for this course include:
- Move past anxiety related to change in the industry.
- Apply new ideas in conversation to solidify them in your understanding.
- Discover and offer strategies with other accounting professionals, wrapping up your conference experience with clear action items.
